PM Shehbaz, CM Hamza money laundering case: New special prosecutor appointed

Islamabad: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) appointed new special prosecutor in a money laundering case against Shehbaz Sharif’s family. Farooq Bajwa Advocate has been appointed as special prosecutor in money laundering case against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz.

Ministry of Law and Justice issued a notification regarding new special prosecutor’s appointment.

Prior to Farooq Bajwa’s appointment, Sikandar Zulqarnain was FIA’s special prosecutor in money laundering case against Shehbaz Sharif’s family, however, agency stopped him from pursuing case.

Zulqarnain had also submitted a plea before court for being stopped to appear in hearings of case. He had apprised court that FIA was not interested in pursuing case anymore.

Moreover, investigation officer in money laundering case, FIA Assistant Director Nadeem Akhtar was shifted to Punjab Institute of Cardiology after having cardiac pain. Nadeem Akhtar underwent primary PCI at hospital.

Medical Superintendent of PIC said that Akhtar underwent an angioplasty and stent procedure at hospital and doctors have advised him to complete rest.
