ZU Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery hosts International Nursing Research Conference 2023

Karachi: Ziauddin University Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery hosted three-day International Nursing Research Conference 2023 (INRC-2023), themed ‘Reshaping Nursing Profession Through Research and Innovation’.
Conference served as pivotal platform uniting healthcare professionals, researchers and educators from across globe. INRC-2023 was organised in collaboration with Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC), Professional Relief Organisation and Health Research Advisory Board.
Ppurpose of conference is to be dedicated to advancing field of nursing by promoting research, collaboration and knowledge dissemination. It is collective effort to ensure that nursing remains at forefront of healthcare innovation and patient-centered care. In his inaugural speech, while highlighting importance of nursing profession and integral role nurses play in medical treatment, Vice-chancellor of Ziauddin University Prof. Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder said, “Today, as we inaugurate International Nursing Conference, we are not just celebrating an event; we are paying tribute to heart and soul of healthcare.
Nurses are unsung heroes who bring compassion, care and competence to every bedside. Without nurses, medical treatment remains incomplete, for they are guiding light in often-complex journey to healing”.
“This conference is testament to our unwavering belief in vital role that nursing plays in shaping landscape of healthcare. It’s reminder that no medical advancement, no technological breakthrough, and no treatment protocol can replace significance of nurse’s touch, empathy and expertise. Work of nurses transcends boundaries and cultures and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that they receive recognition and support they truly deserve”, he further added.
Dr. Zakiuddin Ahmed Secretary of Health Research Advisory Board and CEO of Digital Care as keynote speaker said, “Amidst the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare, nurses are pillars of compassion, innovation and research. Their dedication to advancing patient care through research is truly commendable. It’s an honour to stand before this esteemed gathering of nursing professionals, who, through their dedication and passion, light way for future of healthcare. Together, we shall embark on journey to bridge gap between research and practice, transforming healthcare into realm of endless possibilities.”
.In her welcome speech, Dr. Pamela Marshall Dean of Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery extended warm welcome to all participants, expressing gratitude to speakers for their valuable insights. She underscored significance of vital science in nursing and praised students for their enthusiasm, urging them to envision innovative technological advancements in nursing’s future. Nursing is not just profession; it’s calling to care, commitment to compassion and dedication to excellence. In our ever-evolving healthcare landscape, it is our duty to empower next generation of nurses with knowledge, skills and vision to lead way”, she added.
In introductory remarks, Dr. Yasmin Amarsi Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery highlighted integration of technology, artificial intelligence, chatbots and robotics in nursing services, making healthcare delivery more efficient. Dr. Amarsi emphasised importance of innovation and urged attendees to contribute new ideas to enhance nursing field.
She celebrated achievement of nursing education reaching Ph.D. levels and encouraged students to strive for leadership roles, advocating for policy changes and academic advancements. During INRC Dr. Zeenat Sulaiman, distinguished IHF Governing Council Member associated with Aga Khan Health Services and Dr. Tove from Faculty of Health Studies at Bergen also offered their expert perspectives, contributing to enriching discourse.
Furthermore, Sheema Kermani renowned figure and founder of Tehrik-e-Niswan graced event with captivating theatre performance along with her talented team. INRC-2023 truly embodied spirit of global collaboration, where healthcare experts, researchers and cultural enthusiasts came together to explore dynamic world of nursing research, practice and arts.
