‘ZCRS welcomes incoming batch 2023 of 225 new students on commencement day’

Karachi: Ziauddin College of Rehabilitation Sciences (ZCRS) welcomed 225 new students of batch 2023 for its Clifton, North and Link Road sites in commencement day ceremony, which was held at Abul Hassan Jafarey Auditorium Ziauddin University to mark beginning of new academic year of students.

Commencement day was attended by Dr. Nida Hussain, Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Abbas Zafar Dean Faculty of Health Sciences, Dr. Sumaira Farooqi Principal College of Rehabilitation Sciences and faculty and staff of College.

“Your time here should be filled with learning and fun, our goal is not only to teach but also encourage”, Dr. Nida Hussain said as she welcomed newest batch of students.

“Today, there is so much information available that you’re not dependent on textbooks or your teachers; you should utilise it responsibly. You may believe that you have reached your destination because your career has just begun, but this is only beginning. There is lot to look forward to and your job may lead you wherever you want to go. Therapy has very vital role in our society, helps in rehabilitation and alters how children with disabilities function in society. For all of these reasons, we are grateful to rehab community, which has put in lot of effort over years”, she further stated.

In his keynote address Prof. Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder said that our objective is to spread light to remove darkness that’s essence of education also let me highlight role of College of Rehabilitation Sciences which is producing highly qualified professionals who are well-equipped to meet challenges of healthcare industry. He expressed confidence in abilities of students and encouraged them to strive for excellence in their studies. Prof. Dr. Abbas Zafar congratulated students on their successful admission to prestigious institution and said, “Encouraged you to make most of opportunities that College has to offer, prepare yourself for coming 5 years of learning. ZCRS is only institution in Sindh to have programme of Ph.D.”

He emphasised importance of hard work and dedication in achieving their academic and professional goals. “We are committed to supporting our students throughout their time at Ziauddin University and beyond,” said Dr. Sumaira Farooqi, “We are proud of being part of Ziauddin College of Rehabilitation sciences which is biggest faculty of Ziauddin University. ZCRS is developing partnership with International and National agencies including physiopedia, anti-narcotics and other institutions. Ziauddin University also applied this year for member in the World Rehabilitation alliance which if we get approval will be only institution of Rehabilitation sciences affiliated with World Rehabilitation alliance.

  “ZCRS has privilege of pioneering one of first HEC-recognized rehab science journals named, “Pakistan Journal of Rehabilitation” for promotion of evidence-based practice. Students also got opportunity to get virtual tour of ZCRS”, she further added.
