ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif blamed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan for challenges Pakistan is facing today. In tweet, premier stated, “Imran Niazi has always been about grandstanding and rhetoric”. These remarks come day after PTI rally held at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore, wherein party Chief had criticised coalition government.
“Nation is justified in asking him [Imran] about his dismal performance in office both at federal and provincial levels,” tweeted Shehbaz. Further, he claimed, “Today’s political, governance and economic challenges have their roots in his [Imran’s] failed policies”. Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif in written reply to President Dr Arif Alvi terming latter’s written correspondence regarding elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as “One-sided affair” and “PTI’s press release”. He wrote letter in response to letter written by President Alvi on March 24. In reply letter, he said, “I have been forced to say that Alvi’s letter appeared to be press release of PTI, one-sided and reflected anti-government’s sentiments.
” “Your letter doesn’t reflect constitutional position of President and that you have been doing this continuously. On April 3, 2022, you followed unconstitutional instructions of former prime minister by dissolving National Assembly. Your order was declared unconstitutional by Supreme Court of Pakistan on April 7,” Shehbaz conveyed to Alvi. He stated even in matter of his oath as prime minister under Clause 5 of Article 91, President had failed to fulfill his constitutional duty and that on many occasions president worked actively against “Elected constitutional government”. “Having tried my best to establish relationship, I am compelled to respond to you by tone you used in your letter,” Shehbaz said. Moreover, the PM said that in nearly all instances, persons aggrieved of the legal action taken against them have approached the appropriate legal fora.
“Regrettably and ostensibly due to your party allegiance,” PM Shehbaz’s letter read, “you [president] have failed to note the sheer violation of laws, contumacious disregard of court orders, attacking the law enforcement agencies, damaging public property, attempts to create chaos, civil and political unrest and in short, to bring the country to the brink of economic default and civil war, by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).”
