Youm-e-Babul Islam: day to renew dedication to pursuit of truth, elevation of our faith

Karachi: 10th day of Ramadhan holds great significance in Islamic history and it is celebrated annually as Youm-e-Babul Islam. This day marks founding of Islamic government in Sindh by young military commander Muhammad bin Qasim, notable figure in rise of Islam in South Asia. His actions went beyond freeing subjugated and oppressed people of region from tyranny; he also introduced them to universal message of Islam and made Sindh center of Islamic civilisation and brotherhood.
Hamdard Pakistan in message on day said that Muhammad bin Qasim established just system grounded in principles of divine sovereignty, tolerance, benevolence and welfare values. Victory of Islam in Sindh marked initial stride towards Pakistan movement because this significant achievement led to formation of concept of two-nation theory.
Hamdard Pakistan’s founder Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said used to commemorate Youm-e-Babul Islam annually to foster sense of patriotism in younger generation. This tradition has been consistently observed to this day. Hakim Mohammed Said was torch-bearer of Babul Islam movement. He translated his vision into reality by establishing city of knowledge and wisdom, Madinat al-Hikmah, at site believed to be where Muhammad bin Qasim entered Sindh as identified by historians.
Youm-e-Babul Islam symbolises revival of pledge and determination to make any sacrifice necessary for triumph of truth, eradication of oppression and elevation of our faith. It highlights our religious and national responsibilities to strengthen our country’s ideological foundations through dedication and commitment. It is prayed Almighty Allah help us in practicing our faith with sincerity and honesty.
