DEWSBURY: Cricket has the power to ignite human passion, bring people from different backgrounds and cultures together and instill universal values of friendship, togetherness and belonging.

In this same context, the name of Suleman Adam, known among all and sundry as ‘Solly’ will always be remembered for an indefinite time.Solly Adam is the managing director of a number of firms including Solly Sports in the United Kingdom.

His passion and craze towards cricket made him becoming the apple of many international cricketers’ and Boards eye and attained great respect and admiration form the legendary cricketers.He was always ambitious in supporting the grass roots cricket talent with the backing of the cricket elite.  Solly Adam has been described by Sunil Gavaskar, Viv Richards and Ricky Pioneer of the Cricket World. Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC) was delighted to support Solly Adam’s book launch, detailing the life of the Yorkshire cricket legend, at a star-studded event in the prestigious Long Room at Headingly Cricket Ground held recently.Solly Adam while exclusively taking to Daily National Courier regarding the book launch "Solly Adam Beyond Boundaries”, said: I am extremely thankful to the author Vara Vantapati, who has done a wonderful job in writing the book explicitly. Adam also expressed his gratitude to Abdul A Ravat who engaged with Yorkshire, and particularly Colin Graves, for creating this history for an Asian bloke, an ordinary person who used to work as a motor mechanic, to launch the book at Headingley Cricket Ground.   Solly further said that “I am very grateful to all of these incredible people for their unwavering support and also esteemed guests who attended the book launching ceremony and praised our tireless efforts.When asked about his cricket journey, he replied, I have played League Cricket in Yorkshire for nearly four decades, where I got a great chance of mentoring and nurturing hundreds of young talents. These included over 300 cricketers, primarily from South Asia but also some local Yorkshiremen, several of whom went on to become international cricket stars and legends. In a series of Solly’s unequivocal stance in promoting healthy sports especially the cricket, he played a key role in securing Sachin Tendulkar's signing with Yorkshire Cricket in 1992, a historic move that transformed Yorkshire Cricket by promoting greater unity and inclusivity. This milestone also inspired many British Asians to take the sport more seriously.  The role and significance for cricket in England has been recognized widely during his active career and was lauded by the international media. Solly’s one of the oldest friend Shan also appreciated his friend’s phenomenal achievement and the magnanimous efforts which is not less than a milestone in the history of cricket. Shan also added that Solly’s services to cricket in Yorkshire are worthy to be praised. He has touched many lives and supported so many cricketers locally and from around the world.
