World Culture Festival: Murder-mystery ‘Clue’ leaves audience guessing

KARACHI: World Culture Festival, on its 13th day, featured Clue, comical murder-mystery that kept an intrigued audience on edge with its strangling suspense, cutthroat pace and bleeding-good playacting at Arts Council.
Clue is popular murder-mystery farce adapted from 1985 film of he same title, which itself is based on well-known board game.
Originally, Broadway playwright and actress Sandy Rustin adapted Jonathan Lynn’s screenplay for stage, with additional material by Hunter Foster and Eric Price. Play has been translated into many languages and adapted around world.
Play brings classic board game to life as six guests, each assigned an alias, are invited to mysterious dinner party hosted by blackmailer. Armed with weapons and choice-pay double or kill butler-guests must unravel identity of blackmailer.
Audience was drawn into chaotic atmosphere of suspenseful play, meticulously created by clever antics of characters passionately portrayed by talented Pakistani thespians.
