‘World Ambassadors assure full support to FinMin Ishaq Dar’

ISLAMABAD: Ambassadors from China, United States and United Kingdom have assured Finance Minister Ishaq Dar of their full support to Pakistan in rehabilitation of flood-hit areas as Islamabad is trying to shore up support of international community to provide all possible relief to calamity-stricken people.

Ambassadors held separate meetings with finance minister, where matters related to bilateral relations, economy and government’s works in flood-hit areas came under discussion, according to Finance Division.

British High Commissioner Dr Christian Turner along with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Consultant Michael Barber, Dar apprised them about ongoing post-flood reconstruction and rehabilitation programmes.

He revealed that overall reconstruction and rehabilitation phase is going to take five-seven fiscal years.

Senator Dar apprised officials about overall economic outlook of country and also shared that Pakistan is meeting its external financial obligations and has recently repaid $ one billion bond.

Turner offered all possible help from British government for people of Pakistan in mitigating socio-economic impacts of post-flood crisis

Ambassador of China to Pakistan Nong Rong was briefed on long-standing and deep-rooted relations between both countries. Both leaders discussed further deepening these ties in economic as well as financial sectors.

Chinese shared goodwill gestures and assured continuous support of Chinese government to Pakistan. Ambassador of United States of America to Pakistan Donald Blome was briefed by Dar about ongoing post-flood reconstruction and rehabilitation projects being undertaken by government.

Both sides, according to statement, shared other matters of common interest as well during meeting.
