Work going on to upgrade KMDC to university: Administrator Karachi

KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saif-ur-Rahman said that Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC) is quality institution where students are admitted on basis of merit and their teaching and non-teaching education is also taken care of so that graduates from this college can serve citizens better.

Students of this college are serving all over world with their best abilities, which KMC can rightly be proud of, he expressed these views while presiding over meeting held regarding Karachi Medical and Dental College.

College Principal Professor Dr. Nargis Anjum, Dr. Shah Faisal, Dr. Shiraz, Dr. Farhat Jafri and Director of Finance Javed Qaiser, relevant officers were present.

He said that work on upgrading college into university is ongoing and Sindh government is taking steps in this regard, he said that grant of college will be increased and grant allocated in KMC budget will be tried to continue to be given to college in any case.

He directed KMDC principal to hold meeting of governing body of college so that problems and other issues of college could be resolved through mutual consultation. All decisions should be approved by governing body and no decision of any kind should be made on its own.

He said that city wardens will be appointed for security of college and gradually private security will be reduced. Dr. Nargis Anjum told administrator that sum of Rs 40 million per month is allocated for college in KMC budget from which salaries of college professors and lecturers are paid. She said that measures are being taken to further improve quality of college and efforts are being made to provide better educational standard facilities to students.

Professors and teachers should come to college on time and impart education to students to best of their ability, Administrator said. Convocation of college should be held regularly every year. Degrees should be assigned to students within stipulated time.
