Dubai: Pakistan’s Women’s T20 World Cup journey came to an end as New Zealand defeated Pakistan in ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Opting to bat first after winning toss, New Zealand posted total of 110 runs for loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs, with Suzie Bates top-scoring at 28 runs. Bates was dismissed by Nashra Sandhu in eighth over, caught by Nida Dar, as New Zealand struggled to build momentum. Following Bates’ dismissal, Amelia Kerr joined crease but managed only nine runs off 17 balls. Georgia Pimmer added 17 runs, including two fours, before being dismissed.

Captain Sophie Devine contributed 19 runs but was caught by Pakistan’s captain Fatima Sana off Sadia Iqbal’s bowling. Pakistan’s bowling attack was led by Nashra Sandhu, who took three wickets. Sadia Iqbal, Nida Dar and Omaima Sohail each contributed with one wicket. Chasing 111 runs, Pakistan struggled early in their innings, losing six wickets within first 10 overs, including experienced Nida Dar. Muneeba Ali top-scored for Pakistan with 15 runs off 11 balls, while skipper Fatima Sana managed 21 runs off 23 balls. Unfortunately, only two batters reached double figures, with four players failing to score. Amelia Kerr was the standout bowler for New Zealand, claiming three wickets, while Eden Carson added two. Rosemary Mair, Lea Tahuhu, and Fran Jones each took one wicket, sealing Pakistan’s fate in tournament.
