ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi clarified he will contest future elections on his party PML-N’s ticket.
Responding to reports of his differences with party leadership, Abbasi said he would always remain worker of ruling PML-N party, despite resigning from party office.
Khaqan has recently resigned as PML-N’s senior Vice President, citing his reason of ‘maximizing working room for newly appointed Central Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif’.
Media however has constantly been reporting that Khaqan resigned because of his differences with party leadership.
“Maryam Nawaz has just attained leadership’s position in party and she needs space [to work],” Khaqan said while talking to media.
“Every political party has its own way of working. When newcomers take over parties, old chaps have to readjust their roles,” he said.
“I have spent whole life with party. I still stand with PML-N and will contest coming general elections on PML-N’s ticket,” Khaqan said.
