LAHORE: Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Sunday schooled Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, questioning why the latter offered extension to former Army Chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, if it had been a mistake.
Khawaja Saad Rafique slammed former prime minister Imran Khan during a press conference in the provincial capital of Punjab for saying that the current government only had control over a 27-kilometer radius. He reminded the PTI chief that the people will support political parties that will deliver for them.
Imran was challenged by Saad to manage his governments in the two provinces – Punjab and KP – saying that the nation could not be led by engaging in "the politics of aggression". Imran was slammed for his decision to dissolve the assembly, and Khawaja asked him, "What made Imran to be in such a hurry?"
Lauding his own party, Rafique added that the PML-N leadership had through a great deal of hardship.
Giving information about the railways, Saad Rafique said that Pakistan received 56 rail coaches, while 46 coaches yet to arrive in the country. The railways had to lose millions of rupees as a result of the project’s delayed completion, he added.
“As the government makes every effort to maximize the resources available to the railways, discussions regarding the purchase of engines have taken place with American and Chinese companies,” added Saad Rafique.
He also blasted the PTI-led administration, claiming that nothing was done for the benefit of the railway in the last four years.
