WB team visits Dhabeji Pumping Station, discusses bringing further improvement

Karachi: World Bank (WB) delegation visited Dhabeji Pumping Station and made detailed inspection of Pumping Station? According to spokesperson of KWSC, Global Director Saroj Kumar Jha, Watson’s senior expert Khairi Al-Jamal, Practice Manager Juices Mugabi, COO KWSC Engineer Asadullah Khan, PD KWSSIP Usman Muazzam, DMD Planning Muhammad Ayoob Shaikh, Sikandar Zardari, Shakeel Qureshi, Jameel Ansari and Chief Engineer Irrigation Mir Ghulam Ali Talpar and other senior officials were present in WB delegation. During visit, COO gave detailed briefing to delegation about Pumping Station.
According to spokesman, detailed discussion was held to further improve water supply system to city by Dhabeji Pumping Station, while WB delegation assured KWSC authorities of full cooperation for improvement of water supply and drainage system in city.
In addition, WB delegation also reviewed progress and ongoing works on project by conducting detailed inspection of intake point of K-4 project at Chillya Thatta.
PD KWSSIP Usman Moazzam and PD K-4 WAPDA Aamir Mughal while briefing delegation about project said that main objective of K project is to make water delivery system in Karachi better and more sustainable and K-4 Project Phase-I 260 MGD is under construction in Thatta and Malir districts, project will be able to provide water to Karachi with help of three reservoirs from Kenjhar Lake Thatta, 100 km away, they said that K-4 is very important project to remove water shortage in Karachi city and in this regard, K-4 Project will enable citizens to further improve water supply system and meet their needs, they said that structure of 650 mgd is being constructed under K-4 Project, under this project, gravity channel of 650 MGD is to be constructed up to Kenjhar Pumping Complex and 3 reservoirs and pumping stations of 260 will be constructed near Northern Bypass NEK Old and Pipri Filter Plant. They said that completion of K4 project as soon as possible is among our top priorities and in this regard, measures are being taken on an emergency basis for early completion of project.
