Washington: World leaders have extended congratulations to Donald Trump on his return to White House. Prime ministers and presidents from allies across globe congratulates Trump.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in 2024 US presidential election, following fierce battle for White House. In message shared via social media, Erdogan expressed hope that Trump’s re-election would pave way for strengthening of Turkey-US relations and that it would contribute to resolving regional and global crises.
Erdogan specifically highlighted ongoing conflicts, including Palestinian issue and Russia-Ukraine war, expressing optimism that these long-standing issues could be addressed under Trump’s leadership.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his anticipation to renew collaboration with Trump, aiming to enhance “Comprehensive global and strategic partnership” between their countries.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer congratulated Trump on his election win, emphasising strong UK-US relationship. He expressed optimism about continued collaboration in areas such as growth, security, innovation and tech, highlighting enduring special relationship between two nations.
French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Trump, acknowledging his impressive victory and extending his best wishes for coming term.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Trump on his victory, appreciating his commitment to “Peace through strength” approach, which he believes could help bring peace to Ukraine.
Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, significant regional player and host of largest US military base in Middle East, conveyed his congratulations, citing hopes for continued collaboration on regional security.
South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol celebrated Trump’s victory, expressing optimism for “Brighter alliance” between US and South Korea.
Italy’s right-wing Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni extended her “Most sincere congratulations” to Trump following his victory. She emphasised unshakeable alliance between Italy and United States, noting that relationship would be further strengthened under Trump’s leadership.
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev indicated that Trump presidency could spell trouble for Ukraine, particularly in terms of US financial support for war. Medvedev noted that Trump’s business-like approach might lead to less funding for Ukrainian authorities.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz congratulated Trump, underscoring long-standing partnership between Germany and US Scholz remarked that two nations have consistently promoted “Prosperity and freedom” across Atlantic and are committed to continuing their work to benefit both citizens and global stability.
Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. extended his congratulations, describing US-Philippines alliance as “Tested in war and peace.”
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte welcomed prospect of working with Trump to “Advance peace through strength.” Rutte praised Trump’s efforts during his first term in encouraging NATO allies to increase defense spending, which he noted has been positive development.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen expressed optimism about renewing cooperation with former President. She emphasised EU-US partnership as more than just strategic alliance, describing it as “True partnership between our people,” binding 800 million citizens on both sides of Atlantic.
