Unexpected heavy rains trigger flash floods in Sindh: MQM-P

HYDERABAD: Due to unexpected rains, province went through a major disaster this was said by Sabir Hussain Qaimkhani MNA (MQM) and member Prime Minister Flood Relief Committee in opening ceremony of five-day electronic media workshop here. 

Addressing participants of workshop he said human negligence is also one of reasons behind uncertain climate change, adding to this he urges developed countries to play their role. He said that UN Secretary General visited Pakistan and assessed seriousness of situation and spoke at international forum.

Addressing urban flood situation in Karachi and Hyderabad he said that there were flaws in projects designed in 1990s and one of reasons for lack of timely assistance was that there is no coordination between NDMA and PDMA.

He thanked people of urban areas who once again come forward to help their fellow countrymen. Students from major universities of city associated with journalism participated in this training programme. Workshop will continue till September 28.  Workshop ‘Climate Change, Floods and Role of Media: Reporting and Coverage of Human Suffering’ was arranged by Women Media Centre Pakistan in collaboration with National Endowment for Democracy USA.
