London: Palestinian Ambassador to United Kingdom Husam Zomlot has said it is UK’s responsibility to “Correct historic injustice” of Balfour Declaration that paved way for Israel’s existence.

“Ongoing campaign of mass murder against our people in Gaza and all over Palestine is stark reminder of catastrophic consequences of that declaration,” he said. Zomlot also demanded that UK “Demand an immediate end to Israel’s aggression, recognise State of Palestine and collect international support to once and for all end Israel’s occupation”.

Meanwhile, French Defence Minister Sebastien Lecornu said that Lebanon “Doesn’t need a war” with Israel and warned against regional escalation, AFP reported. Lebanon’s southern border has seen near-daily exchanges of fire, mainly between Israel and Hamas ally Hezbollah since October 7.

“Lebanon doesn’t need war, that’s least we can say,” Lecornu said during visit to French peacekeepers in United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. Such war “could have major escalatory effects on whole region,” he added.
