ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Islamabad High Court (IHC) formed larger bench to hear petition seeking disqualification of PTI’s head Imran Khan for hiding information about his alleged daughter Tyrian White in his nomination papers submitted to Election Commission of Pakistan. Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard case filed by a citizen Sajid Mehmood seeking disqualification of Imran Khan.
Counsel for Imran Khan Salman Akram Raja couldn’t appear before court due to engagements in top court. Associate lawyer said that written comments had been submitted to court on behalf of Imran Khan. Chief Justice noted that Imran Khan had stated in his comments that he was no more member Parliament.
He said that it would be appropriate to know new situation about PTI’s head, adding that affidavit against which case was filed was belong to 2018.
Chief Justice noted that objection was also raised against IHC’s bench hearing this case. He remarked that he had not excused from hearing this case in 2018 on personal reasons instead that time petitioner had prayed court to fix case before certain bench. Chief Justice said that, however, he was forming larger bench as objection had been raised against him by respondent. Lawyer said that ECP had de-notified his client after he resigned from national assembly seat.
He prayed court to adjourn case till March as there was no haste in this case. Associate lawyer Salman Abuzar Niazi said that they respect judge and they had just presented some information. Further hearing of case was then adjourned till February 9.
