Two soldiers, six policemen martyred in terrorist attacks

RAWALPINDI: Two Army soldiers embraced martyrdom while a terrorist was gunned down in an exchange of fire in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district, according to military’s media wing.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), exchange of fire took place in Hilal Khel areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district on night of November 15-16.
“During intense exchange of fire, one terrorist was killed. Weapon and ammunition were also recovered from killed terrorist,” ISPR said, adding that terrorist was actively involved in terror activities against security forces.
ISPR noted that 33-year-old Naik Taj Muhammad, a resident of Kohat and 30-year-old Lance Naik Imtiaz Khan a resident of Malakand were martyred while fighting gallantly. Sanitisation of area was being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in area, military’s media wing added.
Meanwhile, at least six policemen including an assistant sub-inspector were martyred when two terrorists on a motorcycle opened fire on their mobile during routine patrolling, officials confirmed.
Incident took place within parameters of Dadiwala Police Station when cops were conducting a routine patrol near a fair in city, a spokesperson for city’s police said. Martyred cops include ASI Ilm Deen, Detective Foot Constable Ahmed Nawaz, Lower Head Constable Zubair, Frontier Reserve Police’s sepoy Usman Ali, Constable Mahmood Khan and driver Dil Jan. Spokesperson for district’s police said that search operation has been initiated to arrest terrorists. Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah directed KP Chief Secretary Shehzad Bangash and Inspector-General of Police KP Moazam Jah Ansari to submit report.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemning terrorist attack on police van in Lakki Marwat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa paid tribute to six martyred personnel. "Nation salutes sons of soil who sacrificed their lives for motherland," he said in a tweet. He termed terrorists enemies of country and vowed to fight terrorism till its elimination. CM KP Mahmood Khan, Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah also condemned tragic incident and said such cowardly acts could not diminish morale of Pakistan’s security forces.
