Turkish Consulate invites Alkhidmat Karachi’s Search and Rescue team

Karachi: Alkhidmat Karachi’s Disaster Management team that returned after having conducted Search and Rescue operations in the quake-hit areas of Turkey were felicitated at a ceremony hosted by the Turkish Consulate in Karachi.

Alkhidmat’s delegation was led by Executive Director Rashid Qureishi and included Director Disaster Management Qazi Syed Sadruddin, Manager Disaster Management Sarfaraz Sheikh, Dr, Kashif Farooqi, Fawwaad Sherwani and other volunteers. who had participated in the operations in Turkey. The delegation was received by the Turkish Consul General Cemal Sangu, who spoke to the team members about their experience, and expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the extraordinary humanitarian gesture by Alkhidmat Karachi. Speaking on the occasion, he thanked Alkhidmat as well as all Pakistanis who stood by Turkey in its moment of crisis. On his part, Executive Director Rashid Qureishi said that helping their Turkish brethren was a duty that Pakistanis owed to them as Turkey had extended great support to Pakistan during the recent floods and other natural calamities that had struck the country. He added that Pakistanis were shocked at the devastation and shared the grief and pain of their Turkish brethren, while praying that the situation in Turkey and the life of the survivors would soon return to normalcy.
