KARACHI: In a united front against the government, leaders of Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aein Pakistan have denounced the PECA Act, calling it a draconian law that stifles freedom of expression.

The leaders, including Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Salman Akram Raja, Sardar Latif Khosa, and Sahibzada Hamid Raza, among others, made these remarks during a "Meet the Press" session held at Karachi Press Club.

Senior leaders of opposition parties were welcomed by Karachi Press Club President Fazil Jamili, Secretary Sohail Afzal Khan, Treasurer Imran Yousuf, Joint Secretary Muhammad Munsif, and governing body members. The leaders also praised the Karachi Press Club for its role in promoting freedom of expression and democracy.

They vowed to continue their struggle for the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law, and to support the journalist community in their fight against the PECA Act. The leaders emphasized the need for unity among opposition parties to challenge the government's attempts to undermine democracy and the Constitution. They called upon all political parties to set aside their differences and join forces to ensure the supremacy of the Constitution.

"We will continue our struggle for the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law," said Mahmood Khan Achakzai. "The government's attempts to stifle dissent and freedom of expression will not be tolerated."

Salman Akram Raja, Secretary-General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, added, "We want the government to respect the Constitution and the rights of the people. We will not be silenced by draconian laws like PECA."

The leaders also condemned the government's handling of the economy, foreign policy, and national security. They called for a new direction for the country, one that prioritizes the welfare of the people and the supremacy of the Constitution.

The meeting was attended by representatives of various opposition parties, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Awami National Party, and Sunni Ittehad Council, among others.
