KARACHI: Sindh transporters in Karachi have declared a 10% reduction in fares in response to the significant drop in petrol and diesel prices.
This decision follows a meeting between the Sindh transport department and a delegation from the transport association. During the meeting, the transport department announced a 10% cut in intercity fares and issued a warning of strict legal action against those who do not comply. Regional and district transport officials have been directed to ensure that these orders are enforced.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) has also taken measures to alleviate the financial burden on commuters by reducing transport fares by 10% for both intercity and intra-city routes. This decision was made following the government's reduction in petroleum product prices. The reduced fares will apply to 23 different routes in the Islamabad district, including intra-city transport outside Islamabad.
