Three ‘who gang-raped girl in DHA’ remanded in police custody

Karachi: Court remanded three men in two-day police custody for their alleged involvement in gang rape of teenage girl in Defence. Suspects Nasir, Ateeq and Muzammil had been booked for allegedly sexually abusing girl at desolate place in Defence Housing Authority Phase VIII.

Investigation officer produced detained suspects before District South judicial magistrate to obtain their physical remand for questioning. He stated that suspects subjected girl to criminal assault and they were caught at scene by police. Suspects were required to be interrogated about crime to complete investigation, IO said, pleading that they be remanded in police custody for purpose. Magistrate handed over their custody to police for two days with direction to present them on next date along with an investigation report.

Sahil Police registered an FIR against suspects under sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 34 (common intention) of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). In FIR, complainant, Assistant Sub-Inspector Rais Abbasi stated that he along with other policemen was on routine patrol in Seaview area when they were alerted by screams of girl coming from car. They rushed to car and found three men and girl who was in semi-conscious state.
