London: ICC announced three new additions to ICC Hall of Fame, with England great Alastair Cook, India legend Neetu David and dynamic South African batter AB de Villiers latest inductees.
One of finest opening batters in history of test cricket, England great Alastair Cook further cements his cricketing legacy by winning place in ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. Known for his patience, technique and unwavering focus, Cook’s international career spanned for more than 12 years. Cook admitted he was shocked when told of his induction into ICC Hall of Fame. Neetu David is second woman from India to make it into ICC Hall of Fame. Prolific spinner with more than 100 appearances for her country, David is the second-highest wicket-taker for India in women’s ODI cricket with 141 scalps and was also first female player from India to claim 100 ODI wickets. David’s biggest claim to fame during her illustrious playing career was her spell of 8/53 in test against England in 1995.
“I am thrilled to be part of this exclusive club.” AB de Villiers is regarded as both one of most innovative and destructive batters in modern game and deserved member of ICC Hall of Fame. De Villiers made lasting impact during 14-year international career, scoring more than 20,000 international runs across all three formats. Exiting from international cricket in 2018, de Villiers finished with batting average of more than 50 in both test and ODI cricket. “It is tremendous honour to be inducted into ICC Hall of Fame, joining select group of cricketers to be recognised in this way,” de Villiers said.
