Three killed in grenade explosion on eve of elections 2024

KARACHI: Just hours before General Elections 2024, hand grenade blast occurred in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, leaving three persons dead and two injured.

Senior Superintendent of Police Irfan Bahadur said that grenade exploded in hands of 17-year-old Farooq, son of police officer. SSP said that Farooq came out of his residence in Haji Limu Goth of Gulshan-e-Iqbal with hand grenade that exploded, resulting in his death.

Passerby boy was also killed in incident while three others including woman were wounded. Woman who sustained injuries breathe her last at hospital SSP Irfan said that brother of Farooq has been detained.

Investigation was being conducted while Farooq’s house has also been searched. Meanwhile, caretaker Home Minister Sindh Brig (retd) Haris Nawaz took notice of incident.

He asked DIG east and concerned SSP to reach crime scene and inform him accordingly. Haris Nawaz directed law enforcement agencies ensure fool-proof security in province.
