KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leader Mustafa Kamal said that three days’ time was insufficient for house census in Karachi. Addressing media here, Mustafa Kamal said that Karachi provided 70 percent of revenue even in worse economic conditions. “We have flats system in city and entire flat is mentioned as one house,” he said.
He said that there was no solution to question in documents that where person who counts himself in city and village separately would be counted. He encouraged people to get themselves counted. He said that government officials would start coming from March 3, so you should help them and guide around your neighbourhood.
He said census was not as big an issue anywhere else in country. International Monetary Fund could not resolve economic issue, he added. Mustafa Kamal said no dishonesty should be committed in census this time. He said in past seven people were counted where 2,000 people lived. In many areas of Karachi population was depicted less, he said adding that megalopolis has largest population in country.
He requested authorities to extend date of self-enumeration. He said census was taking place five years earlier on demand of MQM. On February 3, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-P appointed Mustafa Kamal, Farooq Sattar and Nasreen Jalil as senior deputy conveners and Anis Qaimkhani as deputy convener of party.
