LAHORE: Thousands of citizens have attended Jamaat-e-Islami (JI)’s Gaza March here to show solidarity with Palestinians in besieged densely populated strip and occupied West Bank suffering from aggression of Israeli occupation forces.
Jamaat-e-Islami organised Gaza Solidarity March at Lahore’s Punjab University Campus Bridge which was attended by thousands of citizens including women and children. Massive public event was addressed by JI Pakistan Ameer Sirajul Haq, politicians and clerics.
Protestors chanted pro-Palestinian slogans and demanded an end to Israeli aggression in Gaza. Addressing Gaza March, JI Pakistan Ameer Sirajul Haq said that innocent children of Gaza were waiting for help of Muslim countries amid Israeli bombardment.
He slammed rulers of Muslim countries for doing nothing for relief of Palestinians except making tall claims. He criticised that rulers of Muslim countries did nothing in Organisation of Islamic Cooperation summit except for consolation.
“Dead resolution was passed in OIC summit, ineffective to provide any relief to Palestinians and stop inhumane actions of Israeli occupation forces.”
Lauded Western nationals including United Kingdom, France, Australia, Ireland, United States and Canada for showing solidarity with Palestinians. Haq said that French people forced their government to change its narrative through powerful campaign.
“People of Australia and Canada have also exhibited solidarity with Palestinians. I thank people of Ireland, Washington and London for raising strong voices for Gaza.” JI Pakistan Ameer said that massive rally was ‘message of death’ to enemy. “Israel is an evil state created by imperialist forces. Palestinians have never accepted Israel and they are standing firmly against occupation forces.”
He said that Israeli people are also protesting against Benjamin Netanyahu. Our public event gives message to Gaza that they are not alone and we are standing side-by-side in this Jihad.”
Sirajul Haq slammed Pakistani rulers, saying, “I wanted to see Prime Minister, Chief Minister, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples’ Party politicians in this march but political personalities are currently busy lobbying in Balochistan and Sindh [for forthcoming general elections].”
