Thatta’s coastal areas receive rain, strong wind amid cyclone threat

THATTA: Keti Bandar and its adjoining areas of coastal belt in Thatta received rain with strong winds. People have started shifting to safe areas as cyclone is moving towards Thatta and Karachi region. Due to rain, weather has slightly turned pleasant. High intensity winds are blowing and getting intensity. They may cause damage to vulnerable structures and katcha houses.
More rains are expected today due to Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (ESCS) ‘BIPARJOY’ over northeast Arabian Sea moved further north-northwestward during last 12 hours, weakened into Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) and now lies near Latitude 20.7°N & Longitude 67.1°E at distance of about 470km south of Karachi, 460km south of Thatta.
To tackle possible threat of cyclone moving towards Thatta, Director General Rangers Sindh, Major General Azhar Waqas, visited coastal areas of Thatta, Sujawal and Badin to review arrangements
DG Rangers held meetings with coastal officials and reviewed arrangements for shifting people from coastal areas of Badina and Thatta to safe areas. He directed officials to ensure protective measures as soon as possible.
