Terrorist planning attack on Muharram procession nabbed

 KARACHI: Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have arrested high-profile terrorist affiliated with banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, who according to law enforcers was planning to attack Muharram procession in Karachi.

Addressing press conference, DIG CTD Asif Ijaz Sheikh said that arrested terrorist-identified as Muhammad Shuaib was planning to attack an attack on procession on Muharram 8th in Karachi’s Orangi Town He claimed that CTD team has arrested Shoaib from Ittehad Town and recovered suicide jacket from arrested terrorist. “He [terrorist] had joined TPP after arriving in Karachi,” he added. Arrested terrorist has provided valuable information to authorities and significant progress has been made in case, DIG CTD added. Sheikh warned that strict action would be taken against those involved in such heinous activities, and facilitators of terrorists would also be brought to justice. Meanwhile, Asif Sheikh said that CTD has been on high alert due to security concerns during Muharram and all officers are working tirelessly to prevent any untoward incidents. Official noted that all CTD officers are on ‘hit list’.
