Terrorist behind Peshawar blast identified: IGP KP

PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Moazzam Jah Ansari said that terrorist responsible for suicide bomb blast at Peshawar Masjid had been identified through CCTV footage. Addressing press conference, IGP stated that assailant was dressed in police uniform and was riding motorcycle with helmet and mask on. He added that motorcycle’s engine and chassis number were fake.

Ansari detailed that attacker pretended to take vehicle to side, reached police lines and asked constable where masjid was. Bomber was found in footage from Khyber Road. He stated that head of suicide bomber found at scene was same as person identified on CCTV footage. IGP said that assailant was not an individual, but rather had whole network supporting him. He stated that police were close to terrorist network responsible for bombing.

Ansari said that TNT explosives were used in blast, while other explosive materials used to demolish buildings were also used. Police Officer Muhammad Ijaz Khan said bomber detonated his load at moment hundreds of people had lined up for prayers.
