‘Terrorism is indefensible’: Leaders, missions condemn Peshawar attack

Islamabad: After deadly suicide attack on masjid in Peshawar’s Police Lines, condolences and condemnation poured in from foreign nations and dignitaries.

Death toll from savage attack rose to 100, as province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) declared day of mourning. United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated, “Terrorism for any reason at any place is indefensible”.

He extended his deepest condolences to families and loved ones of victims. US Mission in Islamabad also offered its condolences to families of victims of “Horrific attack”. “United States stands with Pakistan in condemning all forms of terrorism,” it reiterated.

According to AFP, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres denounced blast. “Aecretary General strongly condemns suicide bombing that took place at masjid in Peshawar in Pakistan earlier today,” said Stephane Dujarric, Guterres’s spokesman. “It is particularly abhorrent that such an attack occurred at place of worship.”

Chinese Embassy in Pakistan strongly condemned terrorist attack in Peshawar. Mission expressed its deep grievances and paid “Deepest condolences to families of victims and injured of tragedy”.

British Minister of State Foreign Commonwealth and Development Affairs Lord Tariq Ahmed denounced “Horrific attack” and maintained that United Kingdom was committed to fight against terrorism.

“My thoughts and prayers are with victims of this attack and their loved ones”. Nobel peace prize laureate Malala Yousafzai stated that she was “Shattered and heartbroken” over lives lost and injuries suffered.

She urged government and security forces to “Fight terrorism in all forms and protect every citizen”.
