Karachi: Deputy Commissioner and Administrator District Central Taha Saleem said that in modern age of computers, use of modern technology for municipal tax collection has become inevitable. In today's busiest era when most of work including banking, income tax and buying and selling are now being done through mobile phones and people are making payments sitting at home and receiving money in their own accounts sitting at home. Collecting taxes by going door-to-door and making challans by hand, it will be considered far from our modern technology, he stressed that 100 percent use of existing E-Municipaltex Portal for municipal tax collection.

He expressed these views while talking to officers and employees of recovery department. He said that a special seminar is being organised in this regard and in which there will be a discussion on modern methods of tax collection, in which apart from experts in computer technology and economics, heads and representatives of prominent business organisations and business community associations will express their views.

E-Municipaltex Portal system is already in use in recovery department of Central Municipality, but its use has not reached level it should be. It can be hoped that recovery department of Central Municipality and business community will both benefit from seminar organised in this regard.
