KARACHI: Team Envision is a team of undergraduate students of NUST, which designs and fabricates eco-friendly cars, with the aim of achieving high fuel-efficiency by maximizing mileage.

Team Envision held an unveiling event on the 5th of July, 2024, in order to showcase their latest project, "AZAAD-E", at the Movenpick Karachi Hotel, which was attended by a number of dignitaries, such as the Chief Guest, Rear Admiral Mazhar Mehmood Malik (Managing Director of Karachi Navy Dockyard), Commandant Commodore Tauqeer Ahmed Khuwaja, Commandant PNEC-NUST, as well as managing directors and marketing directors of multiple industrial partners such as Fibre Craft Industries, Universal Cables, Sindh Bank, among others.  The event aimed to highlight academia's efforts in developing sustainable automotive solutions and integrating them into Pakistan's automotive infrastructure.

Team Envision's newly-launched latest project, "AZAAD-E", is Pakistan's 1st Urban Electric Vehicle. The EV is a milestone project for both the team, as well as the country's automotive sector, as it aims to promote the localization of electric vehicle production in the domestic automotive industry of Pakistan.  This ultra-efficient vehicle boasts a lightweight, durable glass-fiber reinforced composite (GFRC) body and a highly aerodynamic profile with a coefficient of drag (Cd) of just 0.32. Its chassis combines aluminum with a mild steel roll bar for enhanced safety. Powered by a 6 kW DC motor and a 1.92 kWh lithium-ion battery, "AZAAD-E" achieves an impressive range of 200 km and an exceptional mileage of 105.8 km/kWh, surpassing current commercial vehicles in fuel efficiency. As the oldest student team in Pakistan, Team Envision PNEC-NUST actively participates in international events like the Shell Eco-Marathon, along with various national competitions and outreach initiatives throughout the year. Their efforts focus on promoting fuel-efficient engineering, safe driving habits, and advancing eco-friendly research and development projects. The team's dedication has earned them numerous accolades, including three Communication Awards and three Technical Innovation Awards at the Shell Eco-Marathon competition.
