SWAT: Five people were martyred in a blast in Bara Bandai area of Swat’s Kabal town, according to police. “Initial investigations suggest that it was a remote control bomb which targeted peace committee member Idrees Khan,” Swat Station House Officer (SHO) Fayaz Khan told. He said that Khan and his police guards, identified as head constable Rambil and constable Tauheed, were travelling in a car when a blast occurred near Kot Katai village. A passerby, Sanaullah, and another unidentified man were killed in attack as well. Bodies have been moved to Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital.
Meanwhile, vehicle Khan was travelling in was completely destroyed, Fayaz said, adding that police has cordoned off area. There has been no claim of responsibility so far. Immediately after blast was reported, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan took notice of incident and summoned a report from Inspector General of Police.
He extended condolences to family members of deceased and said he was saddened by lives lost. “Sacrifices of martyred will not go to waste. Culprits will be brought to justice,” CM Khan vowed.
