‘Sri Lanka Army Chief, COAS Asim discuss ways for enhancing defence ties’

Rawalpindi: Commander of Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters [GHQ] here, military said in statement.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations [ISPR], during meeting matters of professional interest and ways for enhancing bilateral defence ties were discussed.
Sri Lankan Army Chief praised Pakistan Army for its professionalism and successes in ongoing operations for bringing peace and stability in region. In return, COAS Munir acknowledged historic relations Sri Lanka had with Pakistan and its armed forces, particularly in fields of defence and training cooperation.
Meanwhile, visiting dignitary will also witness passing out parade at Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul on Saturday. Earlier on his arrival at GHQ, Commander of Sri Lankan Army laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. Smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented guard of honour to visiting dignitary.
