Speedy repatriation of Arshad’s mortal remains: Pak FO asks Kenyan govt

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office has said Government of Pakistan is actively engaged with Kenyan authorities at multiple levels for speedy repatriation of mortal remains of Arshad Sharif. In a statement, it said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has spoken to President of Kenya, William Ruto to request early completion of formalities and repatriation of mortal remains.
Kenyan President conveyed deepest condolences on tragic incident and assured complete investigations and repatriation of body at earliest. Statement said Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pakistan High Commission in Nairobi remain in constant contact to facilitate and expedite process. It said that Pakistan has also formally requested Kenyan government to hold an investigation into incident.
Acting foreign secretary Raza Bashir Tarar has also met Kenyan High Commissioner in Islamabad to impress upon importance of matter and urgent repatriation of mortal remains. He also briefed members of National Assembly Foreign Relations Committee on developments.
