Some 219 new Dengue cases reported in a day

KARACHI: Around 219 new cases of Dengue virus were reported in city as Karachi remained in grip of mosquito-borne disease. Sindh health department confirmed 219 cases were reported in a day. 78 Dengue cases were reported in East District, 18 in Korangi District, 61 in Central District and 35 in South District.

Overall 5,244 cases were reported across Sindh this year. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Raja Azhar urged Sindh government to take effective measures against rising Dengue virus cases in Karachi. Raja Azhar sent letter to Administrator Karachi Murtaza Wahab seeking effective measures to curb virus outbreak in city. In letter, while quoting Sindh Health Department noted that province has so far reported over 3,000 cases out of which majority of cases were recorded in Karachi he asked Administrator to remove stagnant water in outdoor and household settings to stop mosquitoes from breeding.

He urged Murtaza Wahab to direct Karachi Municipal Corporation to ensure fumigation campaign across city. "Sindh government should get serious to prevent rising Dengue cases," he added.
