KARACHI: Prices of solar panels in Pakistan have witnessed another significant drop, bringing relief to consumers looking to switch to renewable energy.
According to dealers in Karachi, cost per watt of solar panels has now decreased to between 30 percent and 32 percent. This reduction comes as result of sharp decline in global lithium battery prices, which have plummeted by 50 percent over past year. However, Pakistani importers have been criticised for not fully passing on benefits of these global price reductions to local consumers. It’s worth noting that this isn’t first time solar panel prices have fallen in country, indicating positive trend for adoption of solar energy. Despite reduction, consumers are still urging for more transparency and fair pricing from importers to make solar energy more accessible and affordable for everyone.
