KARACHI: Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) observed Kashmir Black Day at campus. Students exhibited posters carrying images of Kashmiri people who were victimised by hands of Indian forces. Event was organised by Directorate of Students Affairs and Counseling of SMIU. Vice Chancellor of Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai was chief guest.
Vice Chancellor said, ‘Today, we expressed solidarity with Kashmiri people as they have been subjugated since October 27, 1947, when India illegally occupied their beautiful valley.’
He said brutal atrocities of Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Israeli forces in Gaza are an eye-opener for UN and world leaders. They must raise their voices against occupation of Jammu and Kashmir by India and attacks on Gaza by Israel and find peaceful resolutions to these issues.
He said that UN must play its fundamental role in stopping brutal acts of Indian forces in occupied Kashmir and accept right to self-determination for Kashmiri people.
‘I, on behalf of our historic institution, SMIU, its faculty and students appeal to UN, world leaders and other stakeholders to come forward and save people of Kashmir and land of Kashmir from brutalities of Indian forces,’ Vice Chancellor said.
He mentioned that if there were no conflicts in South Asia, countries like Pakistan, India, and China would be more developed and prosperous. ‘Conflicts, wars and turmoil always destroy economies of countries engaged in conflicts,’ Dr. Sahari added.
Students in their speeches condemned atrocities of Indian forces and demanded right to self-determination for Kashmiri people.
