KARACHI: Dr. Sarmad Ahmed Shaikh and Irfan Ali Kandhro, faculty members of Sindh Madressatul Islam University received awards from Universities and Boards Department for their performance in education sector related to IT services and research contribution.

Muhammad Ismail Rahoo, Sindh Minister of Universities and Boards Department and Muhammad Mureed Rahmoon Secretary gave away awards to them during awards distribution ceremony at office of Secretary of Universities and Boards.

Vice Chancellor SMIU. Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai and vice chancellors of other universities of Sindh were present. Among recipients of awards were 59 teachers and staff members of different universities and 11 employees of Department of Universities and Boards.

Dr. Sarmad Ahmed Shaikh has done PhD in Information Technology with distinction from Alpen-Adria University, Klagenfurt, Austria, in 2018. He has more than 7 years of academic and professional research experience in field of wireless communication and antenna design.

Irfan Ali Kandhro Lecturer Department of Computer Science has more than 8 years’ experience in software industry, teaching and research. Kandhro possesses experience in field of Natural Language Processing, Machine and Deep Learning.  He has also worked with international researchers on different research projects.

Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai Vice Chancellor SMIU congratulated award winning faculty members Dr. Sarmad Ahmed Shaikh and Irfan Ali Kandhro. He said that SMIU is striving to strengthen research culture in university by providing necessary facilities and environment to researchers of varsity.
