S.M. Zafar passes away at 93

LAHORE: Renowned lawyer and former Law Minister S.M. Zafar passed away after protracted illness. He was 93. S.M. Zafar was father of known advocate and Senator Barrister Ali Zafar.
Late Zafar also remained Senator. Born on December 6, 1930 in Rangoon, Burma, S.M. Zafar was an accomplished author and penned numerous books.
He contributed articles on both national and international matters in local and foreign publications. During Indo-Pak war of 1965, he served as Law Minister.
It is to his credit that on September 19, 1965, at United Nations Security Council, he presented resolution for conditional ceasefire linked to resolution of Kashmir issue.
He addressed United Nations Human Rights Commission. At 35, he assumed role of Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs in Ayub Cabinet. Form?er MNA Marvi Sarmad termed death of S.M. Zafar as loss for Parliament of Pakistan and politics of Pakistan.
