KARACHI: Sindh Minimum Wages Board has finalised draft recommendations to increase minimum rates of wages in respect of skilled, semi-skilled and highly skilled categories of workers employed in 42 different industries in province.

According to statement, Secretary Minimum Wages Board Muhammad Naeem Mangi said that those who have any objection may kindly contact him. After fresh hike in oil prices, former President Asif Ali Zardari has recently requested coalition government to raise minimum wages for workers to Rs 35,000. He stated that it was government’s responsibility to provide relief to masses.

Earlier, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced an increase of up to Rs 35 in petroleum prices with an immediate effect as Pakistan is scrambling to meet conditions of International Monetary Fund for revival of much-needed loan programme that has been stalled since September last.
