Six martyred in Afghan Border Forces ‘unprovoked firing’: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Afghan Taliban attacked residential area at Pak-Afghan Chaman Border which killed six people and left 17 injured. Pakistan Army’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR) confirmed in its statement that Afghan Border Forces opened unprovoked and indiscriminate fire of heavy weapons including artillery and mortar onto civilian population in Chaman, Balochistan.
ISPR said due to indiscriminate firing of heavy weapons including artillery and mortar onto civilian population in Chaman, six civilians were martyred and 17 injured. ISPR said Pakistani border troops have given befitting albeit measured response against uncalled-for aggression, but avoided targeting innocent civilians in area. ISPR further stated that Pakistan has also approached Afghan authorities at Kabul to highlight severity of situation and demanded strict action to obviate any such recurrence of incident in the future. Chaman district administration has imposed an emergency in all hospitals to treat injured persons. While Levies Balochistan officials said that Afghan Taliban made target of civilian area of Pakistan in which many innocent people were killed and injured badly. Levies Balochistan officials said Afghan Taliban hit Pakistani residential area with mortar shells. The interior minister requested the Balochistan government to provide full assistance to the affected citizens. He prayed for the early recovery of the injured citizens. The Chaman border – also known as Friendship Gate –connects Balochistan province to Afghanistan's Kandahar.
