KARACHI: Affairs of Sindh Industrial Trading Estates (SITE) Limited are worsening day by day due to incapability of the managing director (MD) Ghazanfer Ali Qadri to handle various rival groups of officers and employees in the organisation, it's learnt on Tuesday.

Sources privay to the inside developments told this scribe that despite taking action against corrupt officials of the organisation, MD has expressed his displeasure and annoyed on reporting of alleged corruption scandals of the company by the media.

The MD has called a meeting of all departments specially of administration, finance, biomatric, drawings, security etc few days back and have grilled the staff and questioned about leakage of information to media. Ghazanfer Ali Qadri has also directed all officers and staff not to entertain any media official in the office. Director Administration Zeeshan Alvi has also allegedly hurled threats to staff quoting law enforcement agencies (LEWs) action if they made or responded to any media queries. He also threatened the staff to record their phone calls through agencies illegally despite the fact that it's a crime to tape phone calls by anyone of any person. Any person involved in tapping phone calls can be punished as per law and supreme court various decisions as well, sources told.

A group of officers and employees led by Zeeshan Alvi is trying to take full control of the affairs of the organisation depriving other senior officers and employees targeting other rival groups. To achieve their ulterior motives, few other officers including public relations officer Kamran Choughlay are also involved in blackmailing the managing director Ghazanfer Ali Qadri at present and others in the past, sources claimed.

Officers of site limited are also taking help from their frontmen including those who are found involved in water theft and stealing of other material. Such criminals are involved in harassment of journalists as well. Sources further told that corrupt officers of site limited are also sponsoring commercial constructions on industrial plots and motivates and provide support to such plot owners to continue their illegal activities without any hindrance from the organisation.

Members of this group are involved in stealing and selling the original files of dozens of plots ana this number can go upto 200 if investigated by the concerned authorities and agencies. They are also allegedly involved in creating and selling bogus files of old plots and are always ready to leave any official paper to anyone against monetary benefit, sources added. This particular group has also started patronizing the absentees including a female doctor and other officers who came on deputation against the Supreme Court orders.

Owing to such crucial circumstances, these officers have practically made MD Site Ghazanfer Ali Qadri a rubber stamp and he has miserably failed to improve state of affairs in the Site limited. Due to poor strategy and deplorable performance of the MD and other departmental heads of the organisation, site limited does not even have funds to pay salaries to it's employees by the end of every month, sources concluded.
