Siraj says Zardari should accept PPP’s defeat as people stands with JI

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami amir Sirajul Haq said that Pakistan Peoples’ Party co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari should accept defeat of his party as people supported JI. He said that Hafiz Naeemur Rehman would become mayor of Karachi as he was right choice for this post.

Addressing workers here, JI amir said that Jamaat wanted an Islamic system in country, adding that JI wanted to implement rule of law in country. Sirajul Haq said that progress of Pakistan was linked with safety of Karachi. He said that JI had votes of 0.9 million while PPP only possessed 0.3 million votes while claiming they still wanted PPP to win. JI chief said that Karachi would be established on lines of Istanbul as developed city mentioning resources would be spent in city while adding there was lack of leadership that resulted in such sad state of affairs.

Meanwhile, JI Karachi amir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman questioned why PPP was claiming it would win mayoral contest when it had overall fewer seats than JI and its allies. What calculation is this? What science is this? What kind of election is this? What kind of election commission is this? Who are these people who are imposed over us? They are thieves of mandate and mafia that controls Karachi. Rehman said any attempt to Take over Karachi mandate would haunt PPP and its leadership, adding that stain would never be removed from party. Mayoral candidate likened alleged attempt to steal city mandate to refusal of East Pakistanelectoral mandate in 1970. They divided country but did not accept mandate. This is your history, he said.
