Sir Syed University clinched HEC Zone M Inter-University Hockey title

Karachi:  Sir Syed University won the HEC Zone M Inter-University Hockey Championship, and defeated IBA by 2-1 after a tough fight. The Championship was organized by Sir Syed University in collaboration with Higher Education of Pakistan at K.H.A. Sports Complex. Chief Guest of the final match was Secretary Sindh Hockey Association, Akber Qaim Khani, and the event was attended by the Registrar SSUET Cdre. (R) Syed Sarfraz Ali, Director Sports SSUET, Mubasher Mukhtar, Chairman KHA, Gulfraz Ahmad Khan, Dr. S.A. Majid, Mohsin Ali Khan, Organizing Secretary Javed Iqbal, Tournament Director Raja Anwar Kamal, Umpire Manager Chaudhry Tanveer Arshad, Tariq Khan and others. TV artiste Faisal Qazi specially came to see the final. Asghar, Shahbaz, Irfan, Tahir were the umpires while Zahid Mahmood, Syed Imtiaz ul Hassan and Talat Mahmood were the technical officials.  Sir Syed University has also qualified for the Final Round which will be played in Peshawar next month. Qazi Nasr Abbas, while addressing the closing ceremony thanked the participating teams, players and officials as well as Karachi Hockey Association for their full support for the success of this event.  He said that the successive holding of successful HEC events under the aegis of SSUET Sports Department is the result of the best teamwork. The final match that was played at the KHA Sports Complex witnessed an exciting contest. Sir Syed University played an aggressive game from the start and took 2-0 lead in the first four minutes. Credit goes to Ahmed Ali's two consecutive goals. Iftikhar scored one goal for IBA in 13th minute to reduce the lead. Indus University secured third position in the Championship. Before the closing ceremony, pray was offered to late brother of Director Sports Indus University, M. Wasif for forgiveness.
