Singer is currently facing backlash from social media users for making contentious claim regarding Nobel laureate and education activist Yousafzai. Khalid believed she should offer viewpoint that is both obnoxious and insensitive in response to chance post that urged people to express controversial opinion. She tweeted, “That Malala is puppet of west.”

Twittati asked singer what Malala had done to provoke such hostility from her. Why pick out Malala for staying in West due to threats on her life when she hasn’t said anything about Imran Khan other than calling him out for his racist beliefs on Pathans?

Twitter users urged Khalid to issue an apology, highlighting fact that Malala had put in more effort to advocate for Pakistani women’s rights than Khalid ever had.

We can only express how seriously unpleasant it is to have woman accuse another woman only because of difference in political opinions. We genuinely hope that Pakistani celebrities will develop some manners and refrain from demeaning other ladies by twisting truth and engaging in outright harassment.–Agencies
