KARACHI: The Registrar Cooperative Societies office Sindh has been allegedly involved in corruption and maladministration in day to day affairs of Karimabad Ismailia Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited (KIMCSL). Hence, an immediate action is urged to ensure the safety and fundamental rights of the resident community members in relation to NAB Ref No. 29/2018 pending in NAB Court #1- Karachi.

It has been disclosed by Resident's/Members of the Society in their complaint addressed to Registrar and copies submitted to the concerned authorities. The officials of Registrar are alleged of conducting fake and fabricated elections of the Society that took place on May 7, 2023, and imposed an illegal Committee while this practice is continued for the past 25 years, causing great distress and injustice to Ismailia Community and the Society.

The Registrar issued a letter No. RCS/KYC/101/2023 on May 23, 2023. In this letter, he had directed the illegal committee to cease all transactions from the Society's bank accounts, except for utility bills, staff salaries, and petty expenses. This directive was issued in light of Society Suit No. 905/2023, which is already pending in the Court against illegal election and Registrar's alleged illegal actions.

However, the illegal Committee flouted this directive and continued to engage in various unlawful activities within the society. They are not only violating the directives of Registrar’s letter dated May 23, 2023, but were misusing the Society's heavy funds to involve innocent residents and members in unnecessary litigation. Furthermore, the illegal Secretary of the Society has been consistently harassing residents and members on daily basis making their life miserable.

The situation has reached a point where residents and members who had signed complaints against these actions were now facing undue pressure and threats through lawyer notices from the illegal Secretary, Imran Arwan (non- member), and the illegal Chairman, Malik Mehdi (Non-resident and Defaulter of Pak Fidai Credit Society) using the Society funds.

The complaining residents of KIMCSL have requested urgent and immediate intervention by the Sindh Government regulatory authorities to take strict and decisive action against the illegal activities and dismantle the illegal Committee to restore the trust of Society Members. The continuous disregard for Registrar directives and the well-being of the community is not only detrimental but also undermines the integrity of the Cooperative Society. The principles of justice and accountability, will uphold these values, they hoped.
