Sindh Police orders 800 body war cameras: DIG IT Chandio

Karachi: Sindh Police ordered 800 body war cameras for Karachi traffic enforcement officers and mobile patrolling officers, for which training process of police officers has been completed, control rooms, work and docking stations have also been established. 

According to Deputy Inspector General Police Information Technology Sindh Pervaiz Ahmad Chandio, out of 800 cameras ordered in first phase, 456 cameras are being provided to challaning officers of Karachi Traffic Police, 336 cameras are being provided to Karachi Police Office.

SSPs of all eight districts are being handed over to operation which will be provided at police station level while 8 rooms are being given to Counter Terrorism Department of Sindh Police. According to Chandio, maximum 72 cameras are being given to District East, 56 to Karachi Central, 32 to District West, 32 to Korangi, 24 to District South, 48 to District South, 40 to City District and 24 to District Keamari.

He said that all these modern cameras, available with data SIMs will be worn on shoulders of police officers during their duty as per international standard along with their uniforms and all activities during duty are being directly monitored in control rooms. 

He said that there are about 18 work stations of body war cameras in Karachi Police Head Office PO, DIG Admin, DIGCTD, eight SSP operations offices and 7 SP traffic offices while 100 docking stations are done, 8 cameras are attached to each docking station, 3 officers are registered with each camera with their face recognition.
