Sindh Minister Nasir Shah inaugurates ‘door-to-door’ garbage collection drive

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah along with ex-Advisor on Petroleum Resources Dr. Asim Hussain and Managing Director Sindh Solid Waste Management Board Zubair Ahmed Channa inaugurated Front End Collection (FEC) Operation in Liaquatabad and Gulberg zones of District Central yesterday.

This initiative of the provincial government is highly inclined towards ensuring door to door garbage collection from various points in the district by ensure maximum cleanliness in the entire area. On this occasion, Sindh Local Government Secretary Syed Najam Shah, Executive Director of Operations Tariq Nizamani, Deputy Commissioner of Central District Taha Saleem, CEO Gansu Construction Liu Tao, and a large number of local dignitaries and media were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Nasir Shah said that he is taking ahead the vision of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari which is none other than making Karachi clean and green in all aspects.

He also said that the journey ‘Ab Hoga Saaf Karachi’ has already been kicked-off in various districts in the city and numerous projects and drives are rapidly progressing in the District Central.

Addressing to the audience, Sindh Minister also shown his gratitude to senior PPP leader Dr Asim Hussain who is consistently spearheading a robust drive of development works in the District Central and overseeing all those spaces where there is immense  need for improvement and revitalization.

“Dr Asim Hussain’s sincerity, optimism and keen attention to the masses problems is appreciable to a higher extent and for sure it is bringing fruitful results in diversified areas of development, refinement in the best interest of the public due to which the development schemes of around 10 billion has been allocated to the District Central”, Nasir Shah said.

Shah also added that around two and a half billion rupees have been provided for the repair of roads and potholes in the metropolis and effective steps are being taken for fumigation in various areas to curb the rising spate of Dengue epidemic. Minister also praised the Managing Director Solid Waste Management Board Zubair Ahmed Channa and his team for working day in and day out to facilitate the people by lifting the garbage and dumpimg it to the right places. On this occasion, MD Zubair Channa told the audience that 650 to 700 small and big machinery will be used in the central district for cleanliness works which includes mini tappers, rickshaws, compactors and PCTS.

Also, the utilization of the most advanced form of technology has been kicked-off in Korangi and the District Central as well.

He said that the waste will be compressed inside the PCTS, it has a capacity of 20 to 25 tons and the private company will invest 3.5 billion for its resources, MD SSWMB added.

Channa also said that a special team of sanitary workers has been formed to clean the small streets of Liaquatabad area.

Later, CEO Gansu Construction Liu Tao, also addressed on the occasion and said that they will extend their operation to other parts of Karachi city and will ensure quality work for the satisfaction of the population in these areas.

It is pertinent to mention here that the entire leadership of PPP in Sindh Province and in Karachi is putiing all best efforts to serve the masses in the most upright manner, giving full priority to the grievances of the masses and resolving them with the passage of time with utmost dedication and sincerity.­
