KARACHI: Sindh health department has issued directives to all district health officers to take immediate measures following a surge in Covid-19 and H1N1 influenza cases across the province.

According to the directive from the director general of health services, all healthcare centres must ensure strict monitoring of cases to enable early detection and prompt treatment. Suspected and confirmed cases should be reported without delay. Hospitals have been instructed to ensure the availability of personal protective equipment for medical staff to prevent infections. Additionally, public awareness campaigns will be launched to highlight the benefits of vaccination and encourage people to get inoculated. Both public and private healthcare facilities have been directed to implement effective infection control measures to curb the spread of diseases. Authorities will also promote preventive measures such as mask-wearing, hand hygiene, and social distancing. The directive emphasised the importance of educating the public about symptoms of Covid-19 and H1N1 to facilitate timely medical intervention.

Health authorities will compile and submit weekly reports on case numbers and response measures to relevant institutions for continuous assessment and immediate corrective actions. The Sindh health department has urged strict compliance with these measures to safeguard public health.
